Where I stayed

Well, hello there! Phew, what a week its been!!! I am absolutley knackered after a rather packed week of doing doing doing. I have been staying in YHA Bondi where there is an annoying open door policy - letting in all the freezing wind. And given that there are NO heaters, repeat NO HEATERS in the bedrooms, i have felt the cold some what this week. Looking forward to heading into the desert tomorrow! I suppose this place must be fantastic in the summer....

Yes, i can honestly say I was completely unprepared for the trip.... although i knew it was winter here, somehow i still thought it was going to be warm. On Sunday I saw the Sydney Opera House. I wandered about the quay side watching an 'aborigine' (inverted comma's because under all the paint he may have been south american/black/asian.... it was hard to tell.) play the didgeridoo. Think that may have been the moment when i really felt i was in oz. Ended up parting with $10 for the CD - it sounded amazing - weird mix of rave-it-up trance with didgeridoo on top. Awesome. So, Yes, back to the opera house.  Wandered along the quay side to the place, did the essential tour, saw two small theatres and the Opera Theatre, which is the smaller of the two big set of 'sails'. At the end of which I heard thunder roll and as i walked out of the building could see lashing rain. Of course, i have not brought a coat with me on the trip, except for a rather flimsy anorak, that i'd left back at the hostel (1 hour away). That was when i started my collection of 'winter items sponsered by tourist locations' purchasing teh Sydney Opera House umbrella. I've since also acquired the 'Toronga Zoo Fleece Coat', when I got causght out again in Very heavy rain that lashed so heavy that Sydney actually disappeared across the harbour and all I could see was a grey white mist.

Yesterday I just chilled out around Bondi and took in the scenery mainly. I realised that I don't have to dash about doing everything - I am in fact allowed to do nothing, should i so wish .... it is my holiday after all!!! and its also cheaper.... I went to visit a friend of a friend up in Penrith Called Jennie, and her family. It was awesome, coz they fed me homecooked food, gave me a really hot bath with candles and music (!!!) and a warm bed.... even though i'd paid for the hostel there was no way i was returning to that place when a warm bed was on offer! Was really nice to be able to chat with fabulous people and share journey experiences and God stuff.

Today I headed into the Blue Mountains for a few hours. They're called blue coz of the Eyucalyptus Oil that evaporates from the tress creates a blue haze over the vegetation. Amazing wat things you learn on ya travels, eh!? Did a bit of a walk and saw the three sisters - three massive rocks that sit off the cliff side. I believe the story goes that three sisters tricked their father or something, so he turned them into rocks til they could behave themselves better.... i wasn't paying that much attention at that point. The view was too good!!!!

Anyway, think thats all from me. I have tried to give you the highlights so far, hope thats ok???? It'd be really great to hear from you lot out there.... so please write a comment back on the blog!!!!!!!
