The next day we joined our tour to Uluru (Ayers Rock) as I said we'd wanted to hire a car but it was cheaper to do a tour! The Mulgas tour was excellent, despite our group being a bunch of wet blankets and the guide being mildly psycotic! (possibly due to the wet blanketishness of the group!) Our first stop was the olgas or Kata Tjuta where we went for a walk to see the stunninmg scenary and then on to the rock itself for sunset. I wasn't sure about Uluru, having often seen pictures I just thought "its just a big rock" but it was pretty special in person. After sunset we "bushcamped" in the middle of nowhere, a few of our group were nearly in tears cos they couldn't have a shower!

I forgot to say that when we first got to Ayers Rock, we stopped at a lookout to take pics and after 10 mins, one guy said to the guide "Excuse me, what is that!" When we visited Ayers rock on the 2nd day you had the choice of either doing a walk or climbing it. I thought there might be one or 2 people who sneaked off to do the climb but I was really shocked when 12 out of 18 of us did the climb even tho there is a big sign in about 10 languages asking u not to. It just goes to show that sadly we do need laws and fences and police because just asking people not to do something is not enough. dean and I did a free guided walk with the Ranger and it was really interesting.

The last day we went to kings canyon which was well woth going to I was worried it would be "padding" for the tours cos its near Uluru, it was really hot tho, I was glad we finished the walk by 10am.
