Day22
Murau to Unzmarkt Distance: 30km Best bit: there wasnt one Worst bit: abandoning days riding by 1130 am Animals: none, they all sensibly stayed at home The pension in which I stayed was the most chilled and "local" place yet of the holidays. Everyone and their dog in the small town seemed to pop in for a cigarette, game of cards, gossip, etc. The barmaid was lovely and tried hard to tempt me with her Apfelstrudel. Thus it was reluctantly that I set off that morning with the drizzle already falling thinking, having just dried all all my gear and washed off all the mud, hmm, maybe it will clear up later.... Half an hour later the heavens were open and it a race to see how long I could go before my waterproofs gave out. I calculate that of the 22 days of this holiday only 4 have been without rain or snow of some kind. That really pisses me off! At Unzmarkt I pulled over and watched the clouds descend to ankle level. The days ride was over and it was still before noon. The forecast is rain until the weekend. On this basis, I am going to park the bike until Sunday and do other things. This blog will resume in all its glory on Sunday\Monday when the sun will (inshallah) also make a special appearance. Only two days ride away from Slovenia and would like to arrive there DRY!!!!!

Yup, rain sure can put you down while out on tour. It's amazing how it can take the fun out of riding your bike while exploring new places. Here's to clear skies and tailwinds!
