Day 15
Donnauworth to Regensbourg
Distance 158KM
Best bit: some chewy dried fruits I bought at a passing market
Worst bit: lost again
Wildlife: woodpecker, wild deer, kestrel, weasel, woodpecker, friendly snail
No Nuns in sight today, but did pass a boat called "Maria...."
Added a pic of a snail today as it reminded me of how I felt the day before. These brave
creatures make a dash across the roads in their dozens
Today was a real hike as I wanted to reach the hostel at Regensburg as I knew there would be people there who spoke English and did not look at me strangely!
Dark storm clouds chased me the whole way. I knew I had to go fast to arrive before the hostel closed at six, but then, calamity struck. The path completely disappeared and went into the Danube. Luckily, help was at hand in the form of a portly german lady in a small booth, who when not chomping through a very large Milka bar and chatting to her mates on her mobile sold me a one way ticket for the local boat. I got to rest my legs for 20 minutes and have a quick cup of coffee while we sailed until the path reappeared. Also practiced my German on two unfortunate Polish tourists who were the only other paying passengers.
Scenery fantastic.
