Best bit: finding a friendly cafe that did hot chocolate
Worst bit: losing contact with my feet
Distance: 121 KM
I should have known I was in trouble today when the hotel owner as he served me my morning croissant and coffee kept muttering "monsieur you are so courageux". I had vaguely watched the weather the night before and figured from the symbols that something bad was about to happen where I was. Accordingly, I had chosen, from my albeit rather limited wardrobe, my long Raceface trousers to wear for the ride. When I finally ventured out, I realised the awful truth, snow, snow, and more snow. The owner and I gazed out forlornly. "Commes vous etes courageux" he said again. It wasnt courage that drove me out the door, simply a wish to get away from Verdun plus a touch of stupidity!
