Realise this is a little out of sequence, cos we are soo lazy, yet thought you might like to know how we spent the festive times.
Colombia is much like the rest of the world and the main Christmas celebrations are done on the night of the 24th. Yet the theory of leaving all your christmas shopping to the last minute seems more universal, as we found ourselves stuck in queues and more queues on the 24th, searching for what we were going to buy! Manuela was sent to do what she does best buying presents for the secret santa, and we busied ourselves looking for Karaoke cds and alcohol :-).
The night itself was spent with all (well a lot) of Caro's family in Gustavo's house. Karaoke was sung and played almost all night. The lack of microphones meant everyone just screamed it instead meaning Ali could get away with not knowing any of the songs.
We ate a not so traditional duck - though was delicious all the same, and then the Karaoke continued. We finally sat down - voices gone - at around 2am, and started the secret santa. Though this was with a twist. Each bought a present and placed it in the middle
Got up around 11 with the phone ringing constantly asking where everyone was, and hurried to the meeting place where we piled into cars to be taken to the land around an 1hr out of Bogota. Countryside is as we have been used to stunning, however having just spent a week and a half in El Huila, this lost some magic. Think we were far too tired to focus properly anyay. Meat and food delicious and plentiful, though there was little else to do but appreciate being out of Bogota for a bit!
All in all had a great time, and we hope everyone else had a Feliz Navidad to!

. Then picked a number to decide on the picking order. 1st person picks a present. Second person can then choose to pick a new present or steal from the 1st person. And so on. The idea was for fights between people trying to hold oto the presents they did want while trying to sell those that they didnt and at 3am proved to be a lot of fun! Finally home around 5am with promises to meet up at 10 in the morning to be taken to a nearby finca (farm) for bbq and more partying.Got up around 11 with the phone ringing constantly asking where everyone was, and hurried to the meeting place where we piled into cars to be taken to the land around an 1hr out of Bogota.
