Subject to change! This is our plan.

26th September: Leave England for Madrid, spend a few days in Madrid, seeing the sights.
30th Sept: Leave Madrid, to land at Caracas

Venezuela:  A lot depends on how much the insurance will cover, since there seems to be problems with guerillas etc. Essentially we are spending some time in Los Roques to get a scuba diving certificate. Leave Venezuela around the end of October via Maracaibo, into...

Colombia:   Again seems to depend a lot on 'unwanted activity', but the plan is to do the north coast. 'Do photosynthesis' for a month in Santa Marta, practising our new found scuba skills, before moving onto colonial Cartagena, then heading south via Medellin, possibly as far as Cali, into the coffee zone. Onto Bogota to be entertained and shown the 'real' life by Manu, with the intention of spending Christmas in Garzon with Caro's family. Leaving Colombia for our only planned internal flight to Leticia to start...

Amazon, Brazil:   A few days in Parque Nacional de Amacyacu (Colombian Amazon rainforest) living and breathing and talking to the animals, before boating to Manuas, and then on to Belem. From there the amazon part ends, and Brazil properly begins with...

Brazil:   our first 36 hour bus trip from Belem to Salvador, hoping to arrive just before the Carnaval begins. and following that another bus to Rio de Janeiro to meet the The Great Redeemer. A shorter bus trip to Foz do Iguacu will eventually take us over the border to...

Paraguay:  Following recommendations from Canterbury drunks, we had to see for ourselves the delights of Asuncion, before hitting...

Argentina:   Heading to Buenos Aires for a short time to set ourselves up for a longer stay later on, then heading down to the tip of Patagonia to explore the Parque Nacional Torres del Paine and the Parque Nacional de Los Glaciares before their winter sets in. Heading back up Argentina seeing more of the sights, back to Buenos Aires, with the plan to spend another month beefing up on the richest steaks in the world in the Capital. This should take us to end of April.

After this the route is not so defined. We are either leaving Argentina through the west, travelling north through Chile via San Pedro de Atacama, or head north through Argentina via Cordoba and Medoza heading to Boliva, both equally tempting routes with the Andes standing proudly in the way of a combination of the options.

Bolivia will include the salt lakes and gold mines, the highlands and the low plains, travelling up the west side to La Paz, and leaving via Lake Titicaca into

Peru: Exploring Cusco will start us on to do part of the Inca Trail to find Machu Picchu, and finally some civilization(!).

Ecuador:  Still negotiations are in progress but we are planning on working here to pay for a trip to the Galapagos Islands from here, and then back into Colombia.
