We arrived at Beijing mid morning and had about 5 hours on the stop over. A bit of a pain, but we thought we could find somewhere half decent to hang out. Turns out there isn’t much, and what ever there is there isn’t much by way of decent Chinese food, lots of Japanese, Thai and takeaway. Ended up settling for a takeaway that was at least chinese. Yummi Tang. After procuring some Chinese Yuan, it was off to the buffet for some foody good. Pointing at what ever looked interesting, we put together an interesting mix, some good, some great, some “What was that….”

After our fill of Yummi Tang, and some funny looks from the locals, Why are the westerners in here? Type looks, we made our way around to the gate to wait for our plane. And wait….And wait. The plane was delayed with unknown departure time. We set up camp and after playing with Chinese internet, we took turns having a snooze on the seats. Plenty of room in the world biggest shed. Between snoozes, we took turns to go for a walk to explore the ‘shed’. Found a place where you could have a shower and even have a bed by the hour. When I asked for prices, it was hideously expensive. Should have expected so in an airport. Found some coffee and sandwiches as the hours dragged on towards dinner time. Finally about 5 hours late, our plane came up on the board and we got ready for the final leg.

Having slept so much already, found it a bit more difficult to drop pff on the plane, but after ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs’ we both dropped off, to wake up to breakfast and a the view of dawn over the Blue Mountains.
