Where I stayed

Up early and in the car to Tournus where there is a market and where we are picking up the Meahgers off the train from Paris. We picked up what supplies we could from the market, guzzled down some croissants and the like and headed to the station. The Meagher's were in good form, except for the fact that they had been robbed on the TGV from Gare de Lyon to Lyon. Sue lost her ipad and other important documents but fortunately not their passports.

We were in a bit of a panic now as the hire cars had to be returned by 12.30 and we were running a bit late. Needless to say it all turned out and by 2.00pm we were cruising up the river Seille to Cuisery. We had lunch on board, accompanied by some nice wine. We have found that for very little money you can purchase some really delicious wine in the local supermarkets.

Now we had to deal with the 'l’ecluse premiere’ – the first lock. It’s all hands on deck. DQ at the wheel, as we approach the lock we slow down so JW and DM can get off to handle the filling or emptying the lock and then opening the gates and we girls handle the ropes. It takes a bit of co-ordination and team work and thanks to our trusty captain, DQ, all is plain sailing.

We headed to Cuisery where we berthed for the night at the side of the river as there were no spots at the jetty. We headed into the Cuisery for dinner, pizza and pasta and of course vin!
