Slept well except for the #@$^%&* rooster that started at about 5am! The temperature was much hotter than Barcelona and the B&B didn't have airconditioning, so we started the day with a swim in the very nice pool.
Next stop, Tarragona. The old city was very attractive with lots of small plazas and courtyards with restaurants etc. The main features of the town were the Roman ruins which included a well preserved amphitheatre and the wall around the city. There was also a circus and a fortress. Tarragona is right on the Mediterranean and the beach looked lovely, however the view was marred by very ugly railway tracks and associated overhead lines and other paraphernalia which ran along the waterfront.
We had lunch at a small restaurant, John had the mixed cold meat platter and I had a smoked salmon sandwich, washed down with a glass of rosado.
Finally got to Valencia where we ditched the car. Our hotel is in the centre of a pedestrianised area so getting out bags etc into the hotel was a bit of an ordeal. Nevertheless we are very comfortable. We had tapas for dinner (just for something completely different) and are now in our room with the door open onto the balcony listening to someone playing a clarinet in the street, The Beatles 'Let it Be' and now 'The Girl from Ipanema'
Buenos noches amigos y ninas.
