Got the  Buquebus boat  from Buenos Aires to Colonia in Uruguay. Colonia is a lovely cute old style town with loads of cobblestone streets and old style street lights, but the water is a murky brown and not very inviting for a swim. We were lucky to see a otter at the old port of the town. We went out on the rickety hostel bikes to explore the area  and visited the Plaza de Tores! . The lifestyle seems very old fashioned here and very simple which was a nice change to the hustle bustle of city life.

Next stop in Uruguay was Punta Del Este which is a seasonal seaside resort for Argentians with money. Not too impressed as the place was just full of highrised flats and after Easter the place more or less closes up shop. One good thing was getting to see some lazy sealions at the fish market down at the port.

We had a few days in the Capital Montevideo which was good. The Uruguaian people like to drink mate and it is funny to see them all walking the streets with their mate cups and big flasks of hot water under their arms! We visited the famous Mercado Del Puerto, which has loads of restaurants with Asados. Not too impressed as we ordered a sauce to go with our steak and they gave us a seafood sauce which was tasty but Toby has a seafood allergy! Lucky he survived to tell the tale. Met a few people from our last hostel and had a night out on the town in the Shannon bar listening to some old band after our free pizza and Sangria. All good fun and glad we had a wee trip to Uruguay. Next mission was to get back to Argentina to visit Iguazua via Salto in Uruguay.
