On to the entry...So, spent a few nights on the Ihla da Itaparica, in Mar Grande, while I was waiting for Monday to come (only day to extend the visa - getting to the Policia Federal was an experience). First place on the trip where I was the only gringo at all and nobody spoke any English. Went to the beach there, and in another village on the island, Barra Grande (had the better of the beachs). Visa extension went through cool - cheaper than expected also. First experience with the Kombi vans. They´re in plenty of cities, just running routes picking up and dropping off people for super cheap. As soon as the visa was done, jumped on a bus to Camamu, had to spend the night there, then took a boat to another Barra Grande (I think, the "real" Barra Grande) on a peninsula. Not an island, but really only reachable by boat. Completely deserted and awesome. Walked down the peninsula to Taipús de Fora, an absolutely awesome beach and you couldn´t see anybody. Nobody. Great water, sand, palms...One of those places on the list to return to. The area is made up of a bunch of small fishing villages. But I did find a couple of Paulistas who were returning to Barra Grande, so they gave me a lift back. It was a 7km walk there, which isn´t too much, but the heat, sand roads, etc... make it seem like it. So, next up was Itacaré, where I am right now. Was recommended to me by just about everybody I´ve run into so far. It is actually right under the peninsula, but unless you pay a bunch to get driven there plus ferry from Barra Grande, it is easier and cheaper just to take the boat back to Camamu, bus to Ilheús, then bus to Itacaré
