We reached the first of the lookouts and were treated to a grand vista. Our last visit was in the winter and we could see nothing but clouds but on this day it was clear and only a bit foggy and we spent a few minutes marveling at the canyon.
We continued upward to another lookout which gave us a view of two other islands
As I mentioned there are chickens everywhere and this was no exception but with the added ability to feed these creatures. You knew they knew something was up since they seemed to follow us rather then when we encountered them in other places where they ran away. We bought some food and the attack began. They went after Nick with a vengeance,
After feeding the chickens we headed back down. Mariefrance squeezed herself in the back to allow Alex a front seat and to avoid the view. We made it down in record time and stopped for lunch in Waimea at the shrimp station. I had the shrimp tacos and they were brilliant. Tasty and spicy and messy and delicious. The boys had beer barrel shrimp and Mariefrance coconut shrimp. Nick got a chance to try out this Hawaii shirt can keeper and it did indeed keep his coke cold.
We ended at the condo and had a swim at the fabulous pool and then headed to Nawiliwili bay where the the Marriott hotel is for dinner. Mariefrance and I stayed there on our first visit and loved the setting
Dikes was great and we got a table right on the ocean so we could look at the waves as we ate. The restaurant also had a salad bar which is rare on these island and helped quell the boys growing hunger. They each had ribs and I had Ahi and Marie France had a wonderful ono. We took our time strolling back in the warm, flower scented air and returned to the condo.
