After scrambled eggs for breakfast we set off for the bus stop and caught the bus to the metro, then the train into the city and then a tram (a bit confusing) up the hill and ended up where we were supposed to be (according to the Lonely Planet Guide). We wandered down the hill looking over Prague and into the very interesting shops. An artist at the lookout filled us in on some history. We went up the castle steps to the Palace just in time to see the changing of the guard then went through the Palace and into the Palace Gardens. We bought some wooden ornaments (mouse and frog) and maroushka doll keyring from the shops on the way. After the garden we walked towards the old town and went and looked over the Vltava River. We also found the John Lennon wall (graffiti) and the canal (Venice of Prague). We went up on to the Charles Bridge which is lined with sculptures of Saints. On the other side of the river we walked to the Old Town Square where there are many stalls. There is also an astronomical clock which has revolving apostles every hour. From here you can see the Gothic Church, the bell tower and St Nicholas church. We bought a Maroushka doll set and two small prints. We decided to stay another day and booked a bungalow for the next night as the room was booked.
