30th June
Prague to Cesky Krumlov
Fine 27 degrees

We left Prague after breakfast and a chat with our friendly hostess. On the advice of our GPS guy we took the scenic route for a while then joined the main highway. We still got to Cesky Krumlov by about 1pm having stopped at a supermarket to buy some bread. We were somewhat sceptical about the last instruction from the GPS so I was about to get out and walk down a very narrow road when a friendly local assured me we were driving in the right direction. Back in the car and sure enough at the end of the very narrow road (I'm sure there was an alternative) we ended up at our Pension. We found the owner, parked the car and he showed me our lovely room overlooking the Vltava River. After unpacking and having some lunch we walked over the bridge into the Old Town. It's a beautiful day, fine and sunny, so we decided to make to the most of it ... just in case. We wandered through town, taking our time, until we finally reached the Castle. We decided to climb the tower for the wonderful views of the town and river. We also walked up to the Castle Garden and then through a different part of town, stopping to watch the swollen river and the fish jumping upstream. Cesky Krumlov is a UNESCO listed Old Town and Castle which dates to the late 13th Century. It is in South Bohemia, in the Czech Republic and is situated on the Vltava River. Two nights here so lots more to see tomorrow.
