Thank god for Granada!

I knew absolutely nothing about this place before I got here and I'm loving discovering the nooks and crannies of it. I got here to the hostel this afternoon, the driver who picked me up a the border brought me here after I asked him if he knew a nice place to stay. I wasn't sure what to expect when I got dropped off at the front door, it didn't look like much from the outside, but baby, when I opened the door and got inside, it was like nothing I'd ever seen before.

It goes without saying that Nicaraguas history has left many incredible examples of colonial architecture, and this place is definitely one of them. I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to be able to afford a room, so when the girls at the desk told me that it was $9/night for a semi private room, I was ecstatic. And to boot, they gave the room closest to the pool and the kitchen, with the bathrooms just a short jaunt around the pool.

This place is huge! And my room feels like a cocoon, just what the doctor ordered. I've got a fan to keep the air moving and a screen door that I can lock if I want to be I my room and still have some privacy. Beautiful. Not one to waste time, I dropped my bags and headed out the door in search of some food and some views. Be back later.
