Show trip route
I stayed at The Rex this time, after having done some research on hotels close to Union Station that fit into my budget and fulfilled the necessary other requirements, one of them being, that the hotel be somewhere I've nevr stayed before and be in the downtown core.
After arriving, and being somewhat relieved that the reviews had been true, that the hotel was a jazz/blues bar and had plenty of character, I was shown to my room by the owner of the hotel, who graciously carried my luggage, I showered up, got changed and headed out
I spent the greater part of the day putzing around on Queen West, haunting some fantastic art galleries and furniture design stores. My most honest pursuit that day was in attempting to find great food, and some street art. I wandered up and down side streets and warily into some alleyways, took some pics of art more honest more visceral than lots that'll be found in the most high priced of galleries. Not that I don't love Michelangelo, it's just that sometimes it can get a little pretentious and hard to swallow.
I've posted some pics of what I found, feel free to form and post your own opinion.
ps My search for the best hotel in the downtown area of TO has now stopped, and I will, from now on, stay at The Rex. Unless the Royal York comes a callin'.
