Sunday the 27th December we decided to check out Venice beach. What a sight, some weird and wonderful people there. There is a famous outdoor gym area, called Muscle beach, right on the beach.

There are many shops along Venice beach walkway. Everyone there is out to make a buck seems like every person is trying some weird and wonderful idea to make money.  We also walked along the canals, which is why the area is called Venice.
We've been wanting to go up to the Hollywood sign for a close up view, so on Monday afternoon we set out with  Dylan and Olivia for the walk up to the sign. On the way there we went past the house they spent the first year of their lives in, so we stopped so they could have a good look at the front of the house.
Once we found the gate to the road up to the sign, we parked the car and stared the walk. It is a fair distance to the sign and it is all uphill, but we were quite proud of the kids for making it up without too much hassle. It is well worth it once you get to the top, as you are standing just behind the sign and can look down to Hollywood and you can see the ocean past that. If you look over your shoulder you can see the valley. You pretty much have a 360 degree view from up there.

After the walk we went to downtown Hollywood to watch Adam Sandler's new movie (Bedtime Stories) which was quite good. We then went for a walk down Hollywood Boulevard where they have the walk of fame with the stars on the sidewalk. You have a bunch of people dressed up as various characters all along the walk of fame, again trying to make a buck. The kids had their picture taken with Captain Jack Sparrow. Out first stop was Mann's Chinese Theatre, where they have a lot of hand/foot/nose/etc prints in the concrete, we saw a couple of famous names there. We also went past the Kodac Theatre where they have the Oscars every year. There is so much to see in just that one street, but time was limited as we had to get the kids home for dinner and bedtime.
