After a long, long, long travel time we eventually arrived in LA. The flights all went fine apart from a delay in taking off from NY, but the pilot made up some time and we arrived not too late after the scheduled landing time. Our total travel time from door to door ended up being 36 hours, but surprisingly we felt ok after all that time. We found that SAA (Jhb to NY) was much better than American Airlines (NY to LA), the plane was better and the service was a whole lot better. We had breakfast at a little shop in JFK before we caught the flight to LA.

Anyway, the flying is out of the way for now and we got our rental car (A nice big Dodge SUV ... very American) SUV

and had to negotiate the LA freeways with the 5 lane bumper-to-bumper traffic in our big car. The drive went fine with some navigation from Google and some memories from a previous trip we got to the house around 16h30.
After a shower and a nice meal we passed out at around 19hoo, waking up when Theresa and the kids came home from their trip some time in the middle of the night. We will only get to see Colin when we get back from Canada as he went straight back to the set.

This morning we woke up nice and early and were treated to some great coffee and biscotti. With Dylan and Olivia need to go to school, but looking a bit worse for wear. Dylan

Theresa gave Sonja some Christmas socks to wear around the house, so her toes don't get too cold. Socks

Later today we are going to do some shopping and get ready for the road trip up north. We will leave from LA early tomorrow morning and we will sleep where we stop.
