From Puerto Iguazu we crossed the border with Brazil at Foz do Iguazu with some reserve since weŽd heard that safety could be a bit more of an issue in Brazil...
We travelled up to Florianopolis, which is nicknamed Floripa, and is actually the Isla de Santa Catarina in the South East of Brazil...Confused?
The island has 42 splendid beaches with beautiful water, some of which are swimmeable and quite a lot of which are surfeable. The village we stayed at was a fishermenŽs village on the East coast of the island and had an 18 km beach very popular with surfers, hence the ongoing fight between the local fishermen and the surfers, apparently disturbing the fish...
We basically spent 9 days exploring the island by motorbike and foot, swam as much as we could without drowning and kept being puzzled by the locals, a mix of Very friendly people inviting us to their homes and Very unfriendly people staring like they wanted to pick a fight...very confusing but cool holiday within the holiday...
