Next, we headed to Nagoya. Nagoya is the industrial heartland of Japan, where the mega-industries are based. It also has the slightly less impressive honour of being the birthplace of pachinko (whenever we walk past a pachinko parlour here, we cry out 'why, why?!' and cover our ears).

Our plan was to do a few factory tours, such as Toyota, Asahi, or Denso, an industrial car parts manufacturer. However, the dreaded new years curse struck again - all factories take an extended holiday over the NY period and they were closed.

We also thought about going to Nagoya aquarium, however, Ash read that they had an Orca (killer whale), one of 12 captured for 'scientific purposes' 12 years ago, which died in 2008, and so we decided not to go. Not sure that there is any moral consistency in seeing a whale shark in an aquarium, but being offended by captive Orca!

Nagoya also has a monkey amusement park, but i veoted that idea.

So our two days at Nagoya passed with relatively few activities - we did randomly come across some Samurai though.

Those outfits don't look like they are very suitable for flying across tree tops and running up walls!!
