Arrived in KL just after 2pm, packed our lovely bags on to our backs and went straight into Chinatown with determination to find a good cheap hostel. After a bit of a wonder we came across this guy on a motorcycle that told us about cheap accommodation around the area and since by then we where desperate to get out of the sun we went for it. The room had no window, air was not really healthy and the whole idea of getting back out on the search kind of forced us to just bargain the price down and go for it. To the rescue however....., as soon as we realised the mistake we did my friend Lyesan just texted us saying she had got a room for us and that it would be better to stick around the Golden Triangle as it was a much better area. So after bargaining our money back we where out in the sun again with our lovely bags as companions. The wait was well worth it though as we ended up staying in the suites just above the KL plaza in the center of the Golden triangle with our own shower, tv, air con, freezer and swimming pool!!!... and the best part... all arranged by my friend and for free!!!!!!! THANK YOU LYE SAN!!!!!

After our whole expedition in Penang which left us with sore everything ..we decided this time to take it easy... NOT! We walked and we walked... I guess its kind of unavoidable since a new city is always better explored on foot. We wondered around China town (as usual..) to maybe get a chance to meet some fellow backpackers, went to the central market for some shopping in an air/con environment, Merdeka Square, tried to go to the national museum but it had moved so left that out and tried to find a nice place  to have ice coffee for what seemed for ages but couldn't find anything decent went back to the reggae bar where we had gone the day before to only find that they didn't have coffee!!!!.. was nice however to hear Bob Marley tunes and sip pineapple juice ! By this point my wriest had been killing me so I had put it back in a bandage.. which this massage guy I had previously chatted with noticed and convinced me that he could help...hmmm so i let him have a go to only realise that i just put my self through a whole lot of pain without any real healing!! well at least i gave the guy a chance..

On the same night we also decided to go to the telecomms tower to get a nice view of the city at night time. After walking all the way up the Hill where it was located we realised that yet again Lonely planet had forgot to mention the full package (including a pony ride) that we had to pay for in order to get up the bl**dy tower. The total price was 38 RM which is not crazy but we had to our misfortune not gone by the atm beforehand... as we only expected to pay for the ride up the tower not the whole malaysian experience in one go! :-) instead we had a wonder around the free areas, and went off for some food and drinks. Along the way back we came across a MacDonald sign...and yes we decided to do the forbidden ..and went for a big mac among the countries of fresh fish, noodles and stir fry.. sorry! but think we had had enough .. for at least that day..sure tomorrow we will be back to fried rice but for now it was fast food time! when we came out we got caught in heavy rain so had to spent about 30 minutes under a shopping mall as we made the assumption that umbrellas wouldn't be needed...??

On our last day we set out for the Petronas Towers which is one of the main attractions in KL and was actually lucky  to get in as when we arrived just after noon they told us the tickets had gone but just as we where leaving all disappointed we were told that they had a last minute cancellation so we got in!! woo hoo! As we had quite some hours before we would get in we wondered around the KLCC which is a park just below the towers, went to the Kompleks Kraft (which was a bit disappointing as we expected it to be crafts not a shopping center) and the shopping center below the towers which we really didn't need at this stage but had air/con and food. ! After a full day we decided to go for a nice meal so went to the Hawker food corner had really nice white fish grilled in banana leaves and then headed towards the clubs. After trying to find a nice place for a drink we went by Rum Jungle which had live rock music but the crowd was quite weird and the drinks expensive so decided to go for another wander. On our quest we where offered free drink in Aloha bar so of course we accepted :-) As we where the only tourists in the place we became the center of attention by both the staff and the people but had a great night overall as we mingled with the locals, drunk beer and ate mandarins (new year treat for good luck) with the chinese and danced to the live band!
