What I did
Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge Tour

Flag of Costa Rica  , Province of Guanacaste,
Sunday, May 15, 2011

We had an interesting afternoon arriving here. Shaken by a 5.9 on the Richter scale earthquake. Thankfully it was more bemusing than serious. We called it the Eco Roller Coaster.

Thankfully no casualties, no injuries, no major damage, , although we can confirm some watermelons did not make it after being shaken from their supermarket shelves.

Being at the foot of the volcano we assumed it was the outflow they had been predicting but to no avail. Apparently it releases lava each night but has been on a bit of a dry spell..... Going on 7 months now. They predict next month, next week, there will be a big blow. Thankfully we will not be here.

We went on a great wildlife tour today and enjoyed seeing a sloth, some caymens, heaps of monkeys and birds.

We are now in bed at 7.30pm eating icecream.

Off to Monteverde tomorrow by Jeep, Boat, Jeep. We figure if the volcano wants to erupt (safely) whilst we are in the boat, that would be the best vantage point.

Having a teriffic time.

Much love,
