After having come back from Ischgl, the next day we all rolled into Roddy's car once again for a daytrip to Neuschwanstein Castle. Located about an hour and a half outside the city, the castle was built by King Ludwig II in the late 1800s. Apparently he was a big Wagner fan, and so he dedicated the building and style of the Schloss so that it looks like a place straight out of one of his operas.

The King apparently did not have a chance to spend much time in the place as he was declared mentally unfit to rule as the castle was nearing completion. Not long after that he drowned himself under mysterious circumstances--an apparent suicide. The castle, however, lives on.

Sad to say, this marked the end of my Bavarian adventures as it was time to go back to reality as Allison flew back to NY and work and Roddy and Claudia resumed their everyday schedules. For me, more travelling!
