Old Trafford

Checked into the Edwardian Hotel in the heart of Manchester on Saturday evening. Unlike Chester, the city seemed to have a vibrant nightlife--unfortunately, I brought just enough clothing to wear to a football match and was not prepared for a night out which was just as well.
In the morning walked about the center of the city and then made my way to Old Trafford to watch Manchester United beat up on Birmingham City. Impressively modern stadium which they keep expanding to a capacity which was just shy of 70,000 for this match. But I felt that Anfield was much louder and livier despite being a fraction of the size and in fact the few thousand Birmingham away fans belted out more noise than the rest of the home fans--a bit corporate!
Afterwards, didnt linger much and decided to head back to London so that I could sleep a night in my own bed. I did toy with the notion of heading up to Edinburgh but it was another four hours northwards and I wanted to see my sister who was coming back home after a week's holiday.
