What Spa?

It was a quick ride from Salisbury to Bath on the efficient National Rail system. Brought my swim trunks looking forward to soaking in the famous hot springs so was deeply disappointed to find out that the Roman Baths are merely a historical attraction and not for use!
The second sucker punch was the Jane Austen museum--set up solely to milk a few quid from touring Americans such as myself. The author never lived in the home that houses the museum and apparently she didnt even like the town in her later years. A fairly sparse exhibit filled with more 'artifacts' from the BBC series than the author's actual life. What was a pleasant surprise is the architecture and settling of the town itself--easily the most scenic town that I have seen in England. From the Cathedral to the Crescent Houses the town is one photogenic building after another and I could see why its a popular destination.
