From my journal:
Saigon, also known as HCMC or Ho Chi Minh City, central is a mass of undulating sounds, horns, concrete and speeding metal, the cities symbol as stated on Lonely Planet is agreeably the motor bike. The only other stand out features to me were the crazy maze like alley ways that somehow maneuver through small areas and the power/phone lines that cascade over the streets like unruly electronic vines..."safety hazard" doesn't even come close. Highlights were great barbecue pork on a drunken walk back from club, and 13,000 Dong (less than $1) dishes. Cu Chi tunnels and war remnants museum, tragic images of American war atrocities and continuing affects of agent Orange, seeing the other side of war from the victors vantage.
