From the journal:

Back to Nelson with some Motueka hostelers and then did my first Hitching (I had heard NZ was famously good for hitchin' and I had to make it part of my trip) from Nelson to Rapahoe just north of Greymouth. Went most the way with Nama layed back, quiet, but sharp Israeli girl. Rapaphoe was a trip literally. Not sure if was a dream or real. Stayed with hippy family RA. Avi was the highlight; jubilant free spirited flowing blonde locks fellow Sagittarius boy all of about 6. There were 5 boys in this fam and William the Patriarch mind walked with me into the morning as we talked shop in his electronic studio making beats...crazy cool and crazy messy!

Then hitched to Greymouth at one of the best hostels ever...Global Village, biked into town, kayaked through the reserve to the lake before Grey river and walked everywhere family ra
family ra
. Just missed out on the Montieth's brewery tour. Stayed a few days trying to get in touch with the my cousin Mike and aunt Mary Rita (also traveling through NZ) before giving up and making my way to Fox Glacier.

Yesterday the 13th did the half day walk on the glacier and today Marta (spunky fun Chilean) and Vita (sweet Taiwanese) took me for a walk to the base and along the river. So far a true lifetime highlight. Majestic and all that. Finally heard from Mike and they'll pick me up tomorrow morning on our way to Wanaka. OK up to speed!

*** OK Skipped a lot here, but I'll play catch up later ***
