Where I stayed
At 9.20am we crossed back over the Arctic Circle. Here is the monument on a rocky outcrop that signifies the position. I was actually having breakfast at the time so didn't manage my own photo. It's actually a sad moment because it also means I've run out of time to see the Northern Lights :( They just didn't want to come to the party. I never realised they were so temperamental! This just means that my next trip will either be Greenland or Canada/Alaska. My hunt will continue!
On a positive note, it means we get more daylight time. The sun attempting to rise over the mountains are making the most spectacular colours in the sky, and reflecting on the water.
Actually early this morning around 1am the sky was dark but on the horizon there was this bizarre, huge orange cloud. I still have no idea what it was or why it was occurring but it was memorising.
This morning I also saw two more Sea Eagles. It's funny that I keep seeing them close to salmon fish farms. Clever birds. Now I'm on the lookout for Orcas which are sometimes seen in this area.
