Helldone is the festival that HIM headline from 28-31 December. It's held in a club called Tavistia which has being a music venue since the 1940s. Fortunately my hotel is literally 5mins away, all I have to do is walk around the corner. Super handy because I don't have to track a taxi down in the early hours of the morning.

This Helldone has a lot of hype surrounding it because HIM hasn't performed here since 2009. Tickets were virtually impossible to get but I managed all 4 shows.

The night starts at 10pm with the first act, a young heavy metal band from Helsinki. They were fantastic & extremely loud, just the way I like it. The second band were a Finnish punk band who had started playing together in the 80s. They were also great to listen to & quite eccentric. The lead singer wore a full body black vinyl outfit which he must have had for a very long time because it had patches peeling off.

HIM came out on stage at 12am.  I very long wait for the fans who started lining up at 7am.  Now not even I'm that crazy to stand outside in below zero temperatures just to be in front of the stage.  I got there just after 10pm and managed to score a place in the second row, albeit at the side of the stage.  Some extremely rude people arrived right at the start of the show and muscled their way forward, kicking and pushing to achieve their goal, and this was the females!  Majority being Russian fans, who I'm quickly developing a dislike for.  Really rude and pushy race of people.

The band seemed quite nervous, most likely due to the long break they've had and all the publicity this festival has been getting.  I really enjoyed the show, but it wasn't relaxed like in Turku.  The lead singer has been a reformed alcoholic for the past 4 years, however, tonight he let it slip and started drinking beer on stage.  To say he can be a diva is an understatement, and unfortunately his nerves got the better of him.  He got pissed off with the crowd for being quiet, but that's because he kept pausing the show and it was really hard to read what he was on about.  He even got angry with the drummer at one stage for not extending a song when the crowd was reacting in a positive way.  The rest of the band were pissed off with him and it was like they didn't know what he wanted.  But when they performed a song it sounded great to me.  I really don't mind Ville's tantrums because that is just part of his personality.  Moody, grumpy, arrogant one minute and the next overwhelmingly kind, sympathic and grateful.  I guess I can relate to his split personality being a moody b***h myself.  No comments neccessary thanks.

Sounds like he was having a Melbourne moment! Perhaps he just melts down if everything isn't 'just so' ... it would be a difficult thing to control in the eye of the public.
