3rd April
Woke up early to see of Valeria who had to go to work. Walked with her to the metro stop and said goodbye. It was sad to say goodbye to her as she helped us so much in the first week, and whenever she was at work, she made sure we knew what stations to get off at and what buses to catch.
We packed up our gear, and went for a walk around the neighbourhood to take some photos of the real suburb areas of Mexico City.
We had to catch the metro out to the end of one of the lines to get the bus to Taxco. Some Mexican guy on the metro was telling his friends about the footy I had on me. He knew we were Australian and spoke a little english. We gave him the footy and he showed his mates how we handball and that we kick it! He asked about what we were doing in Mexico and wished us a safe trip. Another good experience with a Mexican!
Once we got to the bus station we had a two hour wait for our bus to Taxco. We managed to find a jukebox and put on some bogan songs like ACDC, we got a few weird looks!
The bus trip out of Mexico City to Taxco took us over some mountains with some pretty incredible views, but nothing could compare to when Taxco came into view. It must be a picture postcard city, made up of all white houses with the ceramic rooftiles. The streets weave around the mountain side, with steps and alleyways everywhere, making the city seem at times like a maze.
We were meant to meet our host a a snooker pub, but he wasnt there. There was an internet place downstairs from the snooker hall. We went down to try to e-mail him, or to look for a hostel. It turned out that Enriques family owned the building, the bar and internet on the ground floor, snooker hall on the second, and lived on the third floor, thats where we would be staying.
Enriques sister called him and he arrived shortly after in a big Chev pick-up truck. He said he was taking us to a new bar he had opened for a private party. We jumped in the tray and drove through Taxco looking at how amazing the town was.
We arrived at the bar which had a view of the entire city. We sat drinking on an outside balcony watching fireworks go off all night as semana santa was starting. A few other travellers and some locals arrived during the night and we got pretty wasted for like 40 pesos each! Cost price drinks!

4th April
We got up early and asked what there was to do in the town. Just walk around we were told! We grabbed ou cameras and walked around taking way too many photos, around every corner looked like a calender shot.
When we reached the main square, a tout took us up to this rooftop bar, we gave him a few pesos and ate breakfast with a view of the zocalo, cathedral and town.
After breakfast we headed to the silver market. Taxco was originally a silvermining town, but now the silver has gone, they hold huge silver markets where you can buy just about anything. I got a ring for like $8AUD, and a few things for Mum. Everything has to be stamped that it is 92.5% minimum of silver. If they are found to be cheating they end up in a Mexican jail.
After we both had our gifts in order, we walked around taking some more photos before we decide to get the footy out for a kick. The only flat bit of road we could find was also a pretty main road, so we had to stop for cars alot, but everyone in the shops poked their heads out the window to look at what the hell these two gringos were doing. A few people even stopped and tried to have a kick and handball with some pretty humerous results. One guy nearly smashed a shop window!
We decided after breakfast and the silver market, we might as continue to blow the budget for the day, and went to a restaurant the Lonely Planet guide recommended. This place was awesome, had great food and a view to boot!
We walked around town and had a few drinks before heading to Enriques bar again. Brendan and I we like the only gringos there, so we sat alone until Enriques HOT sister came over to join us. She was very drunk from a party she was at, and I was thinking of having a crack, but she disappeared. I think Enrique told her she was too drunk and to go home: PRICK!!!
Later in the night two girls waved at me when I went for a wee wee. Turns out they were watching us play footy from a shop that day. They told us that only five year old children played with balls in Mexico. They both spoke english and one was actually and english teacher so we hung out with them most of the night, before they dropped us home later in the night. I was pretty sure we were in, but I think the other girl cracked it when she found out Brendan had a girlfriend and was only being friendly, where as i had other ideas!
Anyway, the door was locked, so we were on street level with no way to get onto the third floor! Brendan yelled and eventually Enriques mum came down let us in, and even apologised for locking us out! Polite Mexicans!!!

Final thoughts on Taxco
So beautiful, everywhere was a postcard photo, perfect place for a honeymoon or a dirty weekend with your girlfriend if you are Mexican!
Both blew our budgets massively! Whoops
So much better than we expected, Lonely Planet only says its an old silver town with a silver market
