On the way to Kudaisi, I stopped in Mtskeva (no, that is not a spelling mistake!).  This is the holiest cathedral in all of Georgia as it is said to hold the robe of Jesus, the robe for which the Roman soldiers drew lots not the Turin Shroud.  The robe is not on display however, as it was buried with a woman in the 4th c. AD in the cathedral.

Kudaisi is reputed to be the capital of Colchis, a kingdom of antiquity.  It was here that Jason sailed the Argonaut to meet King Aeetes and to obtain the Golden Fleece.  Without Medea's help, Jason would never have accomplished the task.  It is hard to imagine the Argonaut being able to sail up the river that runs through modern Kudaisi as it is quite shallow!
