Among the myriad traditions at UVA, one that is going on right now is called "the midsummers".  For one reason or another, UVA students come back to the campus in the middle of the summer to parrrty like the wahoos that they are.  A couple interns had friends over, and it was just one big party.

The night is somewhat of a blur... I went to a pseudo-sorority house with a tall ceiling, then a couple bars on The Corner... which were all packed.  Then around 3am, I trekked back home with friends, passing through The Lawn in front of the famous Rotunda.  A couple people were scattered on the staircase looking into the dark lawn.  We joined them, waiting for something to happen.

That's when we saw two naked girls running from the far end towards us.  Then they hid behind a large tree, as if they just noticed that people were sitting around the staircase.  So the tradition goes, drunk UVA kids streak the lawn on the weekends.  They start from the Rotunda, where they shed all their clothes and start streaking the 1/3 mile lawn, kiss the butt of the statue on the other side, run back up to the stairs, and look into the keyhole and say "Hello Mr. Jefferson."

We didn't see anybody else daring the run, so we just started walking along the side of the lawn.  When we were passing the statue, we saw the backs of 3 pale, naked guys kissing the statue!  I didn't think to take a picture although I really should have.  Haha, crazy kids!
