After a week of brainlessly bumming around the house, I have yet to come up with a profound essay.  I have compiled a list of my favorite things from the trip.  These are all from the top of my head and are probably biased due to recency effect and time spent in each place.  But you know what?  This is my personal experience, so I get to decide what was good, okay, and out of this world! 

Favorites from Summer 2008

Meal: 3-course traditional Romanian meal at Dracula's Restaurant Sighisoara, Romania
Drink (non-alcoholic): Mango thickshake Dahab, Egypt
Drink (alcoholic): Good ol' Czech beer Prague, Czech Republic
Dessert: Chocolate-dipped Maras Istanbul, Turkey, Absinthe chocolate Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic
Perfomance: Galata Tower Night Show Istanbul, Turkey
Phrase: "Cok iyi!" Very good in Turkish
Club: Reina Istanbul, Turkey
Hostel: Wombat's Lounge Vienna, Austria
Church: St. Stephen's Basilica Budapest, Hungary
Monastery: Rila Monastery Rila, Bulgaria
Mosque: The Blue Mosque Istanbul, Turkey
Museum: Egyptian Museum Cairo, Egypt, and Museum of Fine Arts Vienna, Austria
Tour: Hot air balloon + Green Tour Kapadokya, Turkey
Best single city to visit: Prague, Czech Republic
Best single country to visit: Egypt
