I had a really busy day as usual. I am sooo tired, so this will be short.

We left our hotel around 9am to catch the 9:30am bus to Sofia (13 Leva).  Our bus driver looked like a rocker but drove the new, nicely airconditioned bus very calmly.  The bus ride only took 2 hours, and we didn't have any trouble finding the hostel.  The hostel is filled with very attractive guys in their 20-s, one of the incentives of staying at a hostel.  Altogether we are off to a good start!  I will just quickly say that Sofia is just as deserted as Plovdiv.  We were the only visitors to most places...  and we got hefty student discounts without question...  Even in front of the famous Alexander Nevsky (sp?) Church, there was nothing resembling a crowd...  It's a surprisingly pleasant city- not the gray and grimy former-Soviet city that I had imagined.  There is not a whole lot to do.  We visited museums and churches during the hottest time of the day (they close arounnd 5-6!).  Compared to Turkey, food is godly and cheap, alcohol unimaginably cheap.

It is Saturday night and Sofia supposedly has good night life, but we should get some beauty sleep for tomorrow's trip.  We are visiting the best sightseeing place in Bulgaria: Rila Monastery.
