Cevahir Mall (Sisli station) Sisli was only a few stops away from the dorm, but we had to transfer twice!  A tram to Kabatash, a metro to Taksim, and a train to Sisli station.  We were not happy about having to pay an additional fee for each transfer, but it was easy enough... and the mall was right there when we came up to ground level!  I had imagined something like the superstar mall in Cairo, with lots of top-end, American and European stores and fancy restaurants mixed with high-quality souvenir shops.  But no!  This was not a fancy mall at all.  Either we missed a huge chunk of the mall, or the mall has zero top-end stores.  Almost all stores were Turkish shops that could be found on Istikal.  The mall was supposed to be the biggest mall in Europe (and the second biggest in the world, according to an unreliable source, a.k.a. our history TA), but I really feel like I could name at least 2 malls that seem bigger.

Regardless, we were content with the cleanliness and airconditioning.  Oh, and the food court!  We ate at a Chinese buffet for 9ytl!  The food obviously wasn't that great, but I enjoyed devouring mounds of dry noodles and fried dumplings and juicy chicken and beef.  I blew off about 100ytl on a food, Mango halter top, Body Shop body lotion, and a black dress from River Island.  The night before I had accidentally stepped on my roommate's flip flop, and she kept walking, breaking the other flip flop.  So she was looking for new flip flops that would endure the 8-hour Christoff tours but was not so successful.  On the way back, we just got off at Taksim to save money/2 transfers and walked down Istikal.  The day just seemed like a continuation of Day of Pamper :)
