gary grew up in nebraska right there with the corn and the cattle and the chokecherries. he comes from a long line of cattlemen. he became a cattleman himself. sort of. he got into the lucrative embryo business. as i understand it, he kept cattle embryos in his refrigerator, and for a fee, a pretty good fee, he would implant one of these embryos into the uterus of a cow. for reasons i have no way of knowing - and out here we don't like to prod - gary decided one cold winter there in nebraska that he wanted to be in the tropics. he learned that many asian nations were looking for english teachers and that it was pretty warm out there. armed with this knowledge and a college degree he soon landed a teaching job at an english language institute just south of cha-am.
in addition to his love for cattle he also possessed a passion for golf and so as he prowled the golf courses around cha-am and hua-hin, it was only a matter of time before he would run into soidog
today was one of our golf days. we played the skins game. i won by four holes so gary had to buy lunch and beer. he was very generous and happy today. he had gone to bangkok over the weekend. while window shopping at thaniya plaza shopping center there he found some golf balls on sale and bought a dozen for himself and a dozen for me. we played with those balls today.
thaniya plaza is a unique shopping center. it is a large building with four floors of nothing but golf shops. is there anything like this anywhere else in the world? often you can find incredible deals over there. i bought my driver there. it cost me 1500 baht - or about 40 usd - and it's a great driver. i love this driver. there are some shops there that specialize in second hand clubs imported from japan. apparently the japanese don't keep their clubs for very long. they buy new clubs and dump their old ones on a fairly regular basis. the dumped ones end up over here.
scorecard follows. please do not read. very very boring.
