So, with our new friends we headed into the heart of the city and along the river Vlatva to see what Prague had to offer.
Our main stop of the first day was the Mala Strana, the big city park in the hills over looking the city. Prague is not a flat city such as Berlin with the sprawling metropolitan area, it is a traditional castle city with the walled Prague Castle up on the hill with the massive cathedral overlooking its subjects below (so to speak)
The next morning was a little rough but was able to sleep in as we had a train to Budapest late in the day. We finally made it the beautiful Charles Bridge this time, which is an old historic Bridge connecting the castle with the dwellings across the river. This bridge is also adorned with many statues with bits of gold plating depicting famous saints from the pre-1600 era. We then walked up to Prague Castle and enjoyed the grandeur of that before heading back towards our hostel area for a traditional Czech dinner (at least that's what the pamphlet said). We then said our goodbyes to our new friends Imogen and Jess and headed to Budapest.
In this city it was not necessarily the history and culture that we gained but the friends that we shared the memories with. Almost halfway done with the trip already, can't believe it! Onto Budapest and beyond...
