Kia Ora! I am sitting in the local Mc Donalds with Joseph O, Bray M, and Ben V.
They wanted you to know about the Luge! Everyone had a BLAST. This was the most fun thing that any of us had ever done. First we all had to take the scenic route..... aka the slow route. We sat in this go kart that was basically on the ground. Then it was just us and the wind blowing through our hair. To add to the excitement, it began to rain!! Most boys went twice, but some breave boys went 5 times. The only cold part was the super long ride back up on a ski lift. The ride took about 15 mins, in the cold, high above ground. But fear not, it was extremely safe. I had the pleasure of riding the ski lift the first time with Anthony. He was smart and went in after the first ride. From the air we saw all of the boys luging down the mountain. Your truly only did the scenic route and the intermediate route....I actually lifted off the ground once:-) We were all completely soaked, but very happy. Then we warmed ourselves inside the lodge with soy lattes, tea,and hot chocolate.
Even though we were freezing, this was by far the coolest experience. Everyone except Terri and Mrs. Torrey rode the luge! If you ever come to NZ, you have to do this!

Later we went to Holiday Park which is a really nice hostel. Each room had a wonderful heater. We actually got too hot.

After changing we went to a Maori Hangi. This was very interesting. Dave K, was chosen as our chief while we were traveling in our canoe ( bus). When we arrived, he was challenged by the Maori warriors! Then they led us through their fabulous villiage, and then did their war dances, and performed their songs. Everyone had a tattoo on their chin, and the men had them on their upper thighs.
All of our boys got up on stage to do the Haka. Steve Meyer was particularly fierce!

After the show, we had the Hangi, which is a traditional meal cooked in the groun. We had Kumara ( sweet potato), cole slaw, chicken, carrots, lamb, eggs and mayonaise, and sweet rolls and water.
At the end of the evening we performed " Consisder Yourself" for the people, and headed back in for warm showers and a long nights sleep.

Today we are going to be traveling south to Palmerston North, and we will do some sightseeing along the way.

Thank you for all of your support and for writing to your boys and the staff!
This is an exceptionally great tour!

Kia Ora!

Julian
Hi Julian! How are you doing? I know how to download gameboy advance Pokemon into DS games. Monica is going to Mexico on Sunday. How many times did you go on the Luge, and was it as fun as it sounds. I have been swimming every morning and going to Beyond Academics in the afternoons. My teacher is Mr. Wright Jr. What kind of tatoo did you have? How are you doing with the food? Are you having fun?

Luge, etc.
Sounds like you all are having a great time. I'd guess that Joseph was one of the 5 timers. Would like to hear what he thought of the experience. I hope the performances are going well, too.
