Hello Everyone,
I'm counting down the days. Exactly 8 days left! I have two days in Washington DC for orientation then...SENEGAL!
Am
I excited? I can't even find the words to describe it. One moment
I'm focused on packing, my brow furrowed, lips pursed, but then the
thought "I"m going to Africa" dances into my mind and I'm jumping and
screaming with joy! Of course I am also very nervous. I've had
some funny encounters with the nervous mind, and I lay awake thinking
of so much. Will I
like the Peace Corps? No snow! Will I be able to stand the
incredible heat? Malaria and mosquitoes? Homesickness? All
in due time these questions will be answered. While
I've come to love living in Belfast I am ready for a change and
new home to explore. Thank you all who have sent prayer flag
pieces and supported me in doing this crazy adventure. I'll do my
best to keep you posted on my Senegal life and I hope you keep my
posted on your lives. Two years seems long....but it goes so
fast! Write me and I'll see you soon at:
PCT Desneige Hallbert
Corps de la Paix
B.P. 299
Thies, Senegal
West Africa
Someone shared with me this neat quote from the Peace Corps the other
day. I really like it and I want to share it with you:
"Those who go to South America come back political. Those who go
to Asia come back spiritual. And those who go to Africa come back
laughing."
And so, Dance often and smile!
OK!
love Desneige
