Imagine a really cool, posh and modern bar. Now imagine one hundred of them within a few hundred square meters. We joined the rich upper class, absolutely gorgeous Peruvians celebrating in those bars near Lima. This was the first time I paid as much as EIGHT POUNDS FIFTY to get in to a club. Never thought it would happen in Peru. On the way to this town of hip bars we passed slums, slums-turned-into-housing-estates-with-electricity, landfill sites and lots of billboard advertisement. The impoverished population was clearly visible. As was the glitz and glamour in Asia. What a contrast. Peru´s economy is growing and it shows - plenty of luxury flats are being built and in the past few years hundreds of fancy eateries and shops have opened up to serve the rich clientele.
I am glad Francisco showed us this side of his country - I wish Cardiff had at least one of these bars, it would be my local! No chavs, no super drunk beer bellied men, just nice people, good music and beautiful surroundings.
We got to bed around sunrise and woke up a couple of hours later with kids and a nanny running around Renso´s house - or should I say mansion by the beach. Asia was filled with these luxury second homes, all with a different design and each had at least two servants, a pool and expensive-looking interiors. The security guard told me not to take pictures of the houses so all I have is a pic of the jacuzzi with the sea view at the roof terrace.... We spent a beautiful day relaxing like the rich 2% of the Peruvians, surfing, eating good food and walking on the private beach. Our hosts were incredibly welcoming! ¡Gracias a Renso, su familia y amigos, lo pasábamos súper bien en su linda casa! Espero que nos volvemos a ver en Gran Bretaña algún día :)
