I made it. I'm here. Visa 'n all.
After an unexpected extra 5 nights in Christchurch, and my most thorough questionning yet coming in through customs, I am now in the land of OZ.
Its been a good few days here. Sydney is a nice city. Its obviously really big but its great that it has all the water around it to break it up.
I have been on a ferry through the harbour to Manly Bay, out to Bondi Beach, down to look at the Opera House and Bridge many times (yes it is that good) and been for a fair few nights out.
England, what the hell was that performance all about against Trinidad & Tobago the other night? I had to stay up 'til 4 in the morning (6 if you take into account I was still on New Zealand time after my flight) for that
Its funny, everbody here is complaining that its cold. Sod that, my first couple of days have been around 18-20 degrees, I'm walking round in a T-Shirt, its almost like our summer back home. The slightly worrying flip side to this of course is I'm now wondering what the hell its gonna be like in 6 months time when we get around to their summer!
My plan now is to head off and do my travelling around the country first for about 5 weeks, and then to spend the following 5 months attempting to make some money to pay for it all.
Its a wierd old feeling to think, 'I'm gonna be here for 6 months now, I'm actually going to live here'. Can't entirely get my head around it.
I would love to get work related to my career, that'd be the ideal, but I know its gonna be hard. If anyone happens to have any contacts... At least there appears to be a fair bit of casual work around, and I've got plenty of experience in restaurants, even if it is what I came on this trip to break away from.
Well, the weather has taken a turn to rain today but I'm off on my journey north to Byron Bay on the overnight bus tonight, so hopefully I'll be heading for warmer climes.
