It seems to be a pretty common occurrence here that the fishermen want to pull their boats up onto shore to wash them and they expect anyone and everyone to help.

So basically it goes like this...we are lying on the beach and see a pirogue come close into shore.  The guys starts waving and yelling and you realize he wants some help.  You head down, grab hold of the boat, wait for a wave and haul like hell.  Sometimes this is repeated over and over again until the boat is far enough ashore for the guy to clean at the water line.

The first time we did this was for a guy named Dash...(many of the guys have names like Jungle, Rush, Son Son, and Jabba)...and a British woman wanting to help, put a huge fish hook through the inside of her elbow.  Hope she has had her Twinrix shot!  We are all know a bit more careful in the process...

Dash also did not really want to listen to any suggestions...for example, once you have the boat to a certain point, it's a good idea to get a log to hold it there...not only does it help with rolling but it stops the boat from going back out to sea when the swells come.

In any case, it seems that Dash quickly realized he had found a place with people that would help, and we have have been recruited regularly.  However, now Pual has begun to tell Dash to get a log before we start hauling! Paul and Dash have hit it off and now the greeting to Paul is "Hey, Daddy know boats!."
