Hi everyone,
So far we have hit a few beaches and each is very different. They are sure not like Florida or the Mayan Riviera but each has its own charm. We will hope to post some photos at some point but right now the internet is slow and we cannot access our hotmail.
If someone is trying to get us, please send mail to mullanesmyth@gmail or message us through this travelpod site.
The King's Bay beach near Delaford has warm brown sand and palm trees lying almost horizontally across the beach. Bloody Bay is neat with the river washing down into the beach with a lagoon-type atmosphere. The little beach behind our place on Irie Lane is fine but small...we expect to do some snorkelling near by soon
At the north end of the village you walk along a trail about 20 minutes and then take 144 steps down to Pirate's Cove which is our favourite beach so far. You can swim out and look back at the rainforest with all the parrots shrieking by. So far we have pretty much had the beach to ourselves...a private little piece of paradise!
Tomorrow we are heading out along the Leeward Road to get to Englishmen's Bay which apparently was voted one of the best beaches in the Caribbean...it is said to be a perfect beach...gorgeous and with beautiful waves.
For a small island it is amazing that all the major ecosystems are represented; tropical rainforest, mangroves, wetlands, lowland forest, coral reefs, and seabird nesting islands. The food is diverse as well...so far we are loving the doubles and the roti! Paul has found three different rums and three different beers and of course the hot sauces are monumental!
More to come when we get quicker access and hopefully we can access our mail from somewhere else soon,
Kate and Paul
