We are actually sad to be leaving Melaka. It is a place we have always wanted to visit and it sure did not disappoint. It is all that we thought and more. It is simply beautiful...you could think you were in Europe, but with all the advantages of this weather, food and culture.

Today we took a bumboat ride down the river to see some traditional "kampung" and fishing boats. We saw a few monitor lizards along the riverbak as well. Our guide was fantastic and kept us laughing for an hour.

The food continues to be awesome...today we had murtabak for breakfast at Little India and then Curried Squid and Nasi Lemak at a Malaysian place for dinner. Actually it was at the Baba Hotel, which is where part of the Sean Connery movie "Entrapment" was filmed!

The guest houses we have chosen have been quite good (our obsession with planning has paid off...)

They have been very different though: The Inn Crowd in Singapore was raucous and full of about 35 kids with action every night. While we were there they had a tropical fruit tasting, Thaipusam, night safari trip and movie night.

The Kancil in Melaka is quiet, with an older crowd, and very secure with a 12:30 curfew.

We leave for KL tomorrow morning...
