Clean. Orderly. Sterile. Westernized. All words we heard to describe Singapore. Most are true, but it is still decidely Chinese, Malay, Indian.

The technology is beyond belief...you touch nothing! The MRT (Subway) is impeccable, and efficient. Smart cards are touch and go and all self service.

We're getting acclimatized to the heat and humidity.

The food is incredible! Beer is hugely expensive (cheapest is 7-11 where you can get a can for about $3.00...but in a bar the cheapest is about $6.00.)

Compare this with the fact that most meals are under $5.00 Food1

! We've seen everything from pig's organ soup to curried fish heads. We have eaten some awesome meals, mostly in Little India.

Today we were very brave and tried the dreaded Durian Chendol...a concoction difficult to describe...but think of a slushy with red kidney beans and some little lime green squiggly things, all doused in a fruit sauce that smells like the most rotten socks ever!

For Con and the ethnic food gang at Harper's...this is foodie heaven. More details to come.

Tonight we are headed out onto a night safari at the famous Singapore zoo and tomorrow we start our travels across the causeway, off of this island and into Malaysia. Next stop is Melaka.

We may be able to update once more...otherwise, next entry is likely from Kuala Lumpur.

Cheers!
