It's getting close now!

We've had some friends ask about our tentative itinerary, so here it is!
February 1 we head across the Niagara River to Buffalo to get ready for the long journey to Singapore. We'll arrive there on February 4 and will spend three days or so in Little India before leaving for Malaysia. We are certain that highlights will be food and the night safari.
Our first stop in Malaysia is Melaka, a place we have always wanted to visit. We expect to spend several weeks on the west coast of Malaysia, visiting islands in the Andaman Sea. Then we'll head inland to the Cameron Highlands and on to KL. Highlights there will be the tea plantations, and of course, the Petronas Towers.
Once we've visited Penang we head north to Thailand. Then it will be beach time and nonya cuisine on islands such as Phuket. Highlights will be snorkelling and sand!
We will visit for a while in Bangkok before leaving on an overnight train to Chiang Mai where we'll spend a while...highlights are sure to be cooking and trekking and working nearby in an elephant conservation area. It is also in this area that we anticipate working on the Habitat build.
Then it's north we go, where we will cross into Laos for a two day trip on a slow boat down the Mekong into Luang Prabang. Not sure yet where in Laos we'll go from there, but eventually we will make our way to Vientianne. Highlights may well be the colonial architecture and the French bakeries.
From there we are flying to Hanoi to begin a southbound journey along the entire coast of Vietnam. Before heading to Ho Chi Minh, we will visit Halong Bay and Sapa. Highlights will be a cruise to see the spectacular limestone cliffs of the bay and to meet some of the Hmong village people in the country. On the way to HCMC,we expect to make stops in Hue, Hoi An, and Nha Trang.
We'll leave Vietnam and head into Cambodia, first visiting Phnom Penh and then on to Siem Reap for Angkor Wat! Of course, the highlight is Angkor Wat.
From that point on, we expect we will be rushing to get back to Singapore for a flight home where we will arrive at the beginning of June. Of course, all of this is bound to change as we talk to travellers along the way...but then again, the trail is the thing!
