The next morning our driver Jaime (pronounced Hi-me) and his wife Sara (our cook) collected us and we loaded up the roof of the jeep with our bags and sleeping bags.

Our party consisted of Jaime, Sara, Christopher, Lina and us, and then five others in a second jeep (four Israeli students and a Swedish girl) with the second driver, Ramon. The four day/three night tour was to be an incredible experience, made great by our driver and fabulous food (including veggie for me that made everyone else want to turn veg).  Enjoy the pictures - they don't do the view justice so you'll just have to come to Bolivia yourself!

Highlights were: Out-of-this-World landscape, cross country 4x4 driving, llamas, baby llamas, toilet naturale (multiple times!), thunder and lightning, picnics, 4600 metres above sea-level (!), the weird experience of altitude sickness resolved by much coca leaf chewing and “basic” accommodation (i.e. no shower and lots of blankets).

Its all worth it though!

- Liz

PS:  Thanks Lina & Christopher for the extra pictures!

So there I was all pleased with myself that I had eventually gotten my wife's attention away from South America for the first time in a week and then this bloody brilliant Bolivian bonanza blog [how's that for alliteration!!!] comes whooshing into our email and all I can say is 'there she goes again'.

The toilet au naturel perhaps will keep some of the enthusiasm at bay ... but the whole photo blog just looks utterly fantastic.

Green eyed here somewhat in fairness ... you luck two!
