What I did
So having arrived about 5.30pm we had until 10pm to find some grub and pick up our tickets. All went smoothly, we even found Gin&Tonic and started to relax into the carnival mood. At 10pm I was getting twitchy about being late (obviously, I'm English!) but James suggested we have another beer as nowhere in this country starts a party on time. So we turned up fashionably late at 11pm and we were still early!
We decided to get some drinks and find our seats in the Corsodromo. On seeing someone else with a big pink drink I asked what is was - strawberry daiquiri, by the pint :) yes please! We found our seats, fourth row back, next to a really sweet family with a cutey daughter, about 2 yrs. Mothers and Fathers of the UK, you won't believe it but she stayed up through the whole thing until close at 3am!!
So the carnival itself, well the pics will say more than words, a few points..
1) you could always tell when a naked woman was on her way by the pheasant feathers protruding from the top of her head.
2) James' eyes nearly popped out more times than can be mentioned.
3) The sheer scale of it - three processions each taking one hour, with the same piece of music played CONTINUOUSLY! I can't get them out of my head even now :)
4) The best bit - each procession was followed by a band of drummers playing a samba beat, of course with naked girls and boys dancing in front of them, awesome beat! (oh and the naked boys got way more whistling than the girls, due to a large crowd of lusty chicas in the rows behind us) :)
