A grueling 13 hours on the bus and 1000 miles we arrived in the slightly cooler Buenos Aires to continue our Tango adventure.

Took a bit to find the Subte (Subway) from the bus station, but like two whales (with our backpacks) we plowed through the crowds and boarded our train south for the centre.

Emerging with an eye on our valuables, because we had heard quite a few scary stories, we found ourselves in a narrow street without a clue on which way was the hostel.  JJ with map in hand and Liz hunting down road signs we walked the 2 blocks to our hostel.  Ahhh air conditioning...

The hostel was two apartment blocks converted.  This meant the rooms were nice and spacious and had lovely wooden floors.  No air-con but up high there was a nice breeze to cool things down.

First thing first sleep........

Ahhh thats better.  After several days/nights at 30-40oC it was a relief to catch up on some sleep.

A bus tour around the city centre for a few hours help us orientate ourselves.  But on our return we actually had some work to do finding ourselves somewhere to live for the 4 weeks we had planned to be in BA.

Took a few days and we viewed three places.  The first was an apartment right in the middle of town.  The second with Judith (in San Cristobal) who spookily had visited Bristol and had friends in the Bristol Tango scene. And the third a tango house in Constitucion.

The apartment didn't feel right, the tango house was dedicted to our purpose and even had two dance studios but we didn't feel the area was safe, so we headed for Villa Crespo to meet our new roomees Judith, Marco, David & Marie.

Going to do a 'day in our lives in BA' for the next blog entry. Hopefully will comply with your request then.

I've just had a very disturbing mental image of you and a black guy with a strange haircut.
